Ahead of the triumph of the electoral corps and President-elect Joe Biden, some Republican lawmakers plan to oppose certification in the final attempt to overturn the results. However, several Republican leaders, including McConnell, have warned GOP colleagues not to interfere with the certification process. While these attempts have virtually no chance of success, authentication may be delayed by a few more hours, affecting a transition that has already been delayed. Biden previously accused him of hiring the Office of Administrative Budget (OMB) for interfering with the next administration’s efforts to prepare for the presidency.
Trump’s head of budget, Russ Vought, said the Biden Transition Team is making “fake blame” against the Managed Budget Office. In a letter to Biden’s head of transition, Ted Kaufman, Vought said that OMB was fully involved in the transition effort, including more than 45 meetings. He also added that staff and resources are redirected to the draft “Your team’s budget proposal is not responsible for the OMB transition.”
